Simple and elegant Australian cedar chest of drawers from 1840- 1850. Original finish to the drawer fronts and in good overall condition, this 5 drawer chest is full cedar inside and out, with lovely little turned bun feet to give it a lift.
Around the time this chest was made, cedar cutters were felling the trees on the Bellinger River, the new Government House in Sydney was built (moved from Parramatta), and the population of the city was around 40,000.
